Batik Workshop

For generations, Black Hmong women in Sapa have used beeswax and indigo to create the patterns you see on traditional clothing. Every spiral, dot, and line has meaning — symbols for family, nature, and protection. It’s slow, careful work passed from mother to daughter, and it’s still part of daily life in the villages around Muong Hoa Valley.

At our homestay, we invite you into that tradition. Our batik workshop is taught by Hmong women from our family. You’ll create your own design or follow classic Hmong motifs. After the wax dries, we dip the cloth in natural indigo, the deep blue color the Black Hmong are known for. When the wax is boiled off, your pattern appears.

No experience needed and no rush. The workshop takes around 3 hours and you’ll leave with your own batik piece to take home. More than a souvenir, it’s a time spent with learning a new craft, stories, and mountain views.

Price is $10 per person
